Spring 2026 Learn + Earn partnership with Student Affairs and Office of Undergraduate Studies

At Student Affairs, our commitment to student employees continues to grow as the SELFIE (Student Employee, Leader, Fellow, and Intern Engagement) program evolves to expand professional growth, skill development, and career readiness for more than 700 student employees. To build on this work, Student Affairs is partnering with the Office of Undergraduate Studies’ Learn + Earn program, offering undergraduate student employees the opportunity to earn a $400 stipend per semester and access additional benefits by engaging in high-impact professional development experiences.

What is Learn + Earn?

Funded by the Strada Education Foundation and supported by the University of Utah’s Academic Innovation + Intelligence Lab, Learn + Earn is designed to incentivize students to develop career-readiness skills, prepare for an evolving job market, and clarify their professional goals and interests.

Undergraduate student employees within Student Affairs will be automatically enrolled in the program, with the option to opt out. To participate, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be an undergraduate student and be actively employed by Student Affairs (an I9 is required)
  • Meet with a Career Coach twice per semester
  • Attend one career engagement event per semester
  • Complete professional development modules aligned with NACE Career Competencies

Additional Program Benefits

In addition to the semester stipend, participating students may also access additional benefits, including:

  • Eligibility to apply for a summer tuition scholarship (up to six credits)
  • Eligibility to apply for exam and application fee support (MCAT, LSAT, GRE, and graduate school applications)
  • Opportunities to meet with mentors and professionals who support career exploration and goal development

Why This Matters

Integrating Learn + Earn into Student Affairs’ SELFIE program reinforces the division’s commitment to student success and well-being, including those who serve the university as employees. This partnership strengthens our ability to prepare student employees for life after graduation by supporting both career readiness and personal growth.
