Vice President for Student Affairs Staff Service Excellence Award
In 2024, Student Affairs will present its 34th annual Vice President for Student Affairs Award for Service Excellence. Up to three awards of $850 will be conferred. To align with Student Affairs’ new strategic plan, the award has been updated to recognize individuals who go above and beyond to support Student Affairs’ vision, mission, and values. We know that not everyone in Student Affairs works directly with students, but it truly takes all of us to create the type of environment where our students can thrive.
- Vision: For students to discover their passion, people, and purpose
- Mission: We support student well-being and success
- Values:
- Student-centered: We consider the student perspective in all that we do
- Belonging: We will always strive for students to bring their authentic selves to campus, where they feel valued and connected
- Care: We provide holistic well-being so every student feels seen, valued, and heard
- Integrity: We approach every situation with honesty and transparency to align our actions with our values
- Self-discovery: We believe acquiring insight into one’s own character, interests, and skills should be fostered in all aspects of student services
- Lifelong learning: We provide formal and informal learning opportunities to develop and improve knowledge and skills needed to be successful
Eligibility: All full-time staff members with two or more years of service as a full-time employee within Student Affairs and the former EDI centers, except vice presidents, deans, and directors, are eligible for nomination. Individuals may only receive this award once. The selection committee can only consider information provided in the nomination and support letters, so be sure to be thorough in your description of the nominee’s qualifications.
