In addition to delivering an outstanding value in higher education, ensuring the well-being of our students is of vital importance to the University of Utah. I am honored to lead, alongside my leadership team, a group of dedicated, talented professionals who do just that.
The vision of Student Affairs is for all students to find their passion, people, and purpose. Comprised of more than 20 individual departments, Student Affairs encourages U students to participate in the creation of their own campus culture, collaboratively working alongside professional staff, student leaders, and academic partners to ensure all members of our community not only feel welcomed, but are fully incorporated into university life.
Our mission is to support student well-being and success. We do this with a strategic focus on:
- Student support and advocacy
- Operational excellence
- Student engagement
- Inclusive excellence
Throughout the past two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have learned new ways to connect with students even when they aren’t on campus and how to provide flexible support to them when they need it. We have also recognized the undeniable importance and impact of in-person connections.
As we transition into the future of living with COVID-19, we will build on what we've learned and consider how we can adapt to meet changing student needs. We look forward to providing the resources and support students need to not only be successful, but to feel seen, valued, and connected at the U.
On behalf of Student Affairs, I welcome you.
Lori K. McDonald, PhD
Vice President for Student Affairs
