Take a break before finals at the annual Wellness Carnival
As the fall semester comes to a close, the University of Utah's Center for Campus Wellness is bringing back its annual Wellness Carnival, giving students an opportunity to take a break from studying and prioritize their well-being ahead of finals.
The free event will take place Tuesday, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the A. Ray Olpin Union, featuring interactive activities, wellness games and carnival-themed food.
Since its inception in Fall 2024, the Wellness Carnival has become a campus tradition, bringing together approximately 20 campus resource offices and welcoming more than 300 students annually. Hosted in partnership with Student Affairs' health and wellness teams, the event offers an engaging way for students to discover resources and develop healthy habits that can support them throughout their college experience.
"The Wellness Carnival is an opportunity to celebrate that wellness isn't one size fits all. Whatever you need right now to improve your wellbeing, there's someone here on campus who can help and support you," said Katie Atkinson, student wellness programs manager for the Center for Campus Wellness.
Students can expect to find tools, games and support that address the complex needs of college life. Taking a holistic approach to well-being, the event offers fun, interactive ways to explore the nine dimensions of wellness, from strengthening social wellness through a service project to supporting emotional wellness by spending time with therapy dogs.
"We also recognize that knowing where to start or finding the right resource can be difficult," Atkinson said. "The Wellness Carnival brings offices together so that students can build connections and grow their support network through interactive activities in a low pressure environment."
