Leadership Transition within the VPSA Office
Annalisa Purser departing role as Chief of Staff
The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) is announcing a significant transition within the Student Affairs leadership team. Annalisa Purser, Chief of Staff and Special Assistant to Vice President Lori McDonald, will be departing from her current role and taking on a new position working with the Board of Trustees at the University of Utah. She will transition out of Student Affairs by the end of March.
Since she started in 2021, Purser has been instrumental in developing the Student Affairs Adapting to Student Needs plan and three strategic initiatives. Her expertise and dedication have been pivotal in shaping these core initiatives that Student Affairs now employs throughout the division.
“Annalisa has been an invaluable part of Student Affairs, bringing incredible dedication, insight, innovation and heart to everything she does,” said Lori McDonald, Vice President for Student Affairs. “While it’s hard to say good-bye to such a trusted colleague and friend, I am deeply grateful for all she has contributed and excited to see her take on this next chapter at the University.”
Prior to her role as Chief of Staff, Purser held various positions at the university, including director for administrative services with the Department of Public Safety, associate director for University Communications, and Marketing Manager for Dining Services.
Rachel Aho, Sr. Director of Housing, to take on expanded role
In light of her departure, Rachel Aho, Sr. Director of Housing, will assume some of Purser’s responsibilities on a part-time basis, effective immediately. Aho served as acting chief of staff when Purser was on parental leave in 2022, giving her context and experience with the role.
Additionally, she brings a wealth of experience with Student Affairs and operations and processes, and the team is confident in her ability to continue driving projects forward with enthusiasm and dedication.
“We’re thrilled to have Rachel Aho bring her leadership and expertise to support the VPSA office,” said McDonald. “Her dedication to students and strategic vision will be a tremendous asset, and we look forward to working more closely with her.”
Student Affairs extends its best wishes to Purser as she continues her journey at
the university
and looks forward to welcoming Aho into this role.
