See U Soon, LaRhonda!

LaRhonda Johnson_headshotSee you soon messages are always bitter sweet to write and share.  It is with mixed emotions that I share that LaRhonda Johnson Horton’s last day with Student Affairs is August 16, 2023.

LaRhonda joined Student Affairs as the Director of Student Support and Accountability, a new role established in collaboration with Housing and Residential Education, as well as the Office of the Dean of Students. As director, she exceeded expectations and demonstrated exceptional leadership by coordinating and streamlining initiatives across both areas, creating a more unified and seamless student experience.

Her extensive background as a restorative justice practitioner, focused on aiding individuals and organizations in identifying, addressing, and resolving challenges through methods like facilitated dialogue, conflict coaching, motivational interviewing, mentoring, and restorative practices, significantly contributed to her accomplishments as a director.

“In the short span of 9 months, LaRhonda furthered relationships across Student Affairs, she professionalized processes that needed care and attention, but most importantly she positively influenced and changed the lives of so many students, faculty, and staff,” said Jason Ramirez, associate vice president of Dean of Students. “The joy she brought to our office and community will be missed every single day.  Her impact on helping students find their passion, people, and purpose will impact for many years to come.”

Johnson Horton has accepted a role as Assistant Vice President of Student Engagement at Mary Baldwin University in Staunton, VA. Join us for a farewell celebration on August 16 from 3-5 pm at the Office of the Dean of Student conference room.
