Commencement Volunteers Needed
The University Commencement committee is seeking volunteers to ensure the 2023 Commencement ceremony is a success.
The Office of the Registrar coordinates the pre-commencement celebration where graduates gather at the Central Garage and usher them into the Jon M. Huntsman Center for the ceremony processional. Organizers are in need of additional volunteers to help by interacting with the graduates, directing them to the correct lineup area, and moving each line into the arena as the event begins. The Office of the Registrar staff will train and onboard those who commit to volunteer accordingly in the coming weeks. In total, the team is in need of twelve additional individuals to volunteer for the event.
Below is the time commitment needed from each volunteer:
- Monday, May 1
- Group 1 meeting @ 9:00 through 10:00 a.m. in the Student Services Building, Office of the Registrar – Room 250N (or)
- Group 2 meeting @ 10:00 through 11:00 a.m. in the Student Services Building, Office of the Registrar – Room 250N (or)
- Group 3 meeting @ 11:00 a.m. through 12:00 p.m. in the Student Services Building, Office of the Registrar – Room 250N
- Wednesday, May 3
- Line leader rehearsal @ 8:30 through 9:30 a.m. at the Central Garage
- Thursday, May 4
- University Commencement lineup and processional, 4:00 through 6:30 p.m. at the Central Garage
Please note: Those who volunteer will need to be physically present for the in-person trainings and rehearsal during the week of May 1. All volunteers are also required to wear business professional black and white clothing (typically black slacks/skirt with a white buttoned shirt) to participate.
If you are willing to help us with the University Commencement lineup and processional, please email Jordan.Jameson@utah.edu by the end of the day on Friday, April 14.
