New Director of Student Support and Accountability
LaRhonda Johnson Horton will join Student Affairs as Director of Student Support and
Accountability beginning Nov. 1, 2022.
The Director of Student Support and Accountability is a new role in partnership with Housing and Residential Education and the Office of the Dean of Students. Horton Johnson will provide leadership in coordinating and streamlining efforts in both areas for a more cohesive student experience.
Johnson Horton is an experienced higher education thought leader and student success practitioner, in particular restorative practices and self-authorship. Throughout her two-decade career, Johnson Horton has served in capacities within Residence Life and Housing Administration, First Year Experience, TRiO Programs, Student Activities & Involvement, Career & Academic Advising Fraternity and Sorority Life, and Student Conduct.
She is an experienced restorative justice practitioner who supports individuals and organizations with identifying, responding to, and resolving challenges through facilitated dialogue, conflict coaching, motivational interviewing, mentoring, and restorative practices. Johnson Horton is dedicated to educating the university community on how to be effective leaders while encompassing necessary health and well-being strategies. She has a passion for helping students create and navigate their college experience for the best outcomes after graduation.
Johnson Horton currently serves as the Assistant Director for Community Development at William and Mary. Johnson Horton earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Elon University and a Masters of Education in College Student Personnel Administration from James Madison University.
