New Associate Dean of Student Engagement and Leadership

Erica Andersen will be assuming a new role in Student Affairs as the Associate Dean of Student Engagement and Leadership beginning November 16, 2022.

The Associate Dean of Student Engagement and Leadership is a new role within the Office of the Dean of Students (ODOS).  Reporting to the Associate Vice President and Dean of Students, Andersen will serve on the ODOS leadership team and work to enhance and streamline efforts with student engagement and leadership within Student Affairs and campus partners. The Student Leadership and Involvement Office, the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, and the Bennion Center for Community Engagement will report to her.

Erica Andersen is an experienced Higher Education practitioner, with a background in student leadership development. Driven by the tenants of Noddings’ Ethic of Care, the Social Change Model of Leadership Development, and Servant Leadership, Andersen has a passion for student success and the role campus involvement and engagement plays within that process. Throughout her career, Andersen has served in capacities within Fraternity and Sorority Life, Housing & Residential Education, Office of Orientation and Transition, and most recently has served as the Director of Student Leadership & Involvement.  Across the university, Andersen has supported and collaborated with stakeholders to facilitate student leadership development, campus involvement, and student-led programming and advocacy. During the pandemic, Andersen took on additional responsibilities focusing on student engagement, collaborating often with Emergency Management, Public Health, Events Management, and more.   

Andersen holds a Master's of Education from the University of Utah in the department of Education, Leadership & Policy, a Bachelor's of Arts in Communications, and a Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Studies.
