selfie of Clare LemkeJoin us in congratulating Dr. Clare Lemke, director of the LGBT Resource Center, who will be leaving the Divisions of Student Affairs and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion to continue her professional journey as a Senior EDI Consultant with University of Utah Hospital and Clinics in the Human Resources Department.

Dr. Lemke joined the University of Utah in 2019 and worked vigorously to create access, leadership development and inclusive spaces for LGBTQIA+ communities on campus, while also building many community partnerships in Utah. Dr. Lemke has been instrumental in expanding the number of professions in the LGBT Resource Center and has led her team in reimagining and increasing the programs offered by the center.

Dr. Lemke increased the center’s capacity for executing queer and trans student of color community-building programming and creating virtual programs and services. She also collaborated on increasing scholarship support with the U Alumni partnership by $24,000, and worked with colleagues across campus to raise $30,000 in grants and fundraising for programs and students’ leadership development.

Although her last day is July 15, 2022, she will continue to collaborate with many colleagues in Student Affairs and EDI. Please share your congratulations here.

You are invited to a reception celebrating Dr. Lemke on July 13 from 3-5 p.m. at Crimson View.

Congrats, Clare and thank you for being a thoughtful leader and for your consistently student-centered approach.

Below is a personal note from Clare:

"It has truly been an honor to serve as the director of the LGBT Resource Center these past few years. I have appreciated the chance to make connections with so many talented and wonderful students and colleagues in this role. I have been able to find advocates across campus who are committed to advancing LGBTQIA+ equity, and this was never something that I took for granted. Thank you to everyone who offered me and the LGBT RC so much support. Working with the LGBT RC staff has been a gift, to come to work every day with a staff that is deeply passionate and creative and joyful. I know that this experience is one that I’ll take with me into this next part of my professional journey, and I am grateful for it. I am excited for my next opportunity and I am looking forward to staying connected with those who I have been so fortunate to get to know in this role!"
