University of Utah to host 4th annual University Health and Wellness Leadership Summit
From September 28–30, the University of Utah will host the 4th annual University Health and Wellness Leadership Summit, welcoming student health and wellness leaders from across the country for a national gathering dedicated to advancing student health and well-being in higher education.
The U’s extensive network of student health and wellness services—spanning physical, emotional, financial, social, and spiritual well-being—has positioned the university as a leader in this space. Colleagues from across the nation are eager to learn how Utah integrates wellness into policies, programs, and practices that support students holistically.
Made possible with the support of Medicat, Mantra Health, Weber State University, and University of Utah Student Affairs, the summit will feature interactive workshops, roundtable discussions, and networking groups. These sessions are designed for senior and executive health and wellness leaders who oversee university health and wellness divisions.
The summit is organized by the University Health and Wellness Leadership Committee—an independent group of professionals from institutions such as Weber State, Michigan State, Texas State, Clemson, and Emory. The committee was formed to address the need for curated professional development opportunities designed specifically for student health and wellness leaders.
Serving as this year’s chair is Dr. Sherrá Watkins, associate vice president for Student Health and Wellness at the University of Utah. Watkins is recognized nationally for her leadership in creating a health-promoting campus—one where student well-being is valued as a crucial part of the university experience.
“It’s an honor to bring this summit to our campus,” said Watkins. “We’re proud of the robust network of services we’ve built for our students, and we’re excited to share our model with colleagues from across the country. Together, we can strengthen the future of health and wellness in higher education.”
By hosting the summit, the University of Utah is not only showcasing its own strengths but also helping shape the future of health and wellness in higher education. The gathering reinforces that student well-being is essential to academic success and highlights the University of Utah as a national model for what it means to be a truly health-promoting campus.
