Sustainability and Environmental Activism: Tiare Couto Memorial Scholarship

On September 18, the Union Administration proudly hosted its 15th annual Union Scholarship Celebration, bringing together community members, alumni, and campus partners to honor the 2025–2026 scholarship recipients and raise funds for the next scholarship cycle.

With the theme “Brighter Because of U,” this year’s event honored 35 student recipients, amounting to more than $100,000 awarded in scholarships. As Student Affairs’ second-largest contributor of scholarship funds, the Union’s annual celebration represents the life-changing impact that financial support can have on students’ educational journeys.

“This celebration serves as a reminder of just how much our students can achieve when they’re being supported,” said Branden Dalley, director for Union Administration. “Thanks to the dedication of our donors and sponsors, our students can pursue dreams and life-long goals.”

The evening also marked the announcement of a new scholarship: the Sustainability and Environmental Activism: Tiare Couto Memorial Scholarship, established in memory of Tiare Couto, a student whose passion for sustainability and community engagement left a lasting impact on the U community.

Though this year’s celebration has concluded, contributions to Union Scholarships can still be made.
