Administration & Timeline of IDEAL Climate Survey
The I.D.E.A.L. Climate Survey is an anonymous survey that provides a snapshot into the climate and culture of Student Affairs. The survey is managed through the Office of Assessment & Analytics and will securely save all data. The data steward for information collected through the I.D.E.A.L. Climate Survey is the Associate Vice President for Student Development and Inclusion, Dr. Bryan Hubain. A data steward, ensures that the data collected is utilized in the ways that we have stated and ensures that access to these data is guided by all relevant data usuage policies. Although the survey is anonymous, anyone who completes the survey will have the option of taking an unconnected and separate form to enter a drawing for a $50 Amazon Gift Card.

- What are the key challenges and opportunities of diversity, equity and inclusion in Student Affairs?
- To what extent do Student Affairs employees align with the Student Affairs values in relation to climate?
- What are core recommendations to help Student Affairs further support inclusive excellence?
Timeline
- May 2022: Begin review of climate efforts on campus
- June 2022: Consult with Equity Diversity and Inclusion on Student Affairs EDI Self-Study
- July - August 2022: Review literature on climate in higher education and items used in previous surveys
- August 2022: Draft outline for Student Affairs Climate Survey & EDI Self-Study
- September 2022: Begin draft of SA climate survey
- August 2022: Review of climate survey draft with Director of EDI Research
- October 2022: Complete draft of SA climate survey
- November 2022: Internal review of survey items
- November 2022: Expert review of climate survey draft. Experts were two chief diversity officers, one assistant professor who conducts research on the topic, one associate professor who studies EDI from a global context, and one student from the U.
- December 2022: Survey created and items were pared down
- Survey finalized: February – March 2023 (Actual: February – April 2023)
- VPSA Message: May 1, 2023
- Survey Opens: May 1, 2023
- Survey Reminders:May 10, 2023, May 17, 2023, May 22, 2023
- Survey Closes: May 26, 2023
- Data analysis: May 2023 – July 2023
- Division presentations: August 2023
- Final report delivered to the Vice President of Student Affairs no later than December 2023.
- Executive Summary will be shared with the Division of Student Affairs: January 2024
