University of Utah Chapter

The University of Utah has had a chapter of the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi since 1922. The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs serves as home for the chapter. Phi Kappa Phi recognizes and encourages superior scholarship in all academic disciplines. We invite members from the top 10% of seniors, the top 7.5% of juniors, and outstanding graduate students who must be nominated by their departments. 


Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship

Every year, the National Office conducts a graduate fellowship competition providing 51 Fellowships of $5,000 each and six at $15,000 each to members entering the first year of graduate or professional study. Each chapter in Phi Kappa Phi may select one candidate. Since 1994, the University of Utah chapter has had 12 winners of the national competition.

The selected candidate also receives a $1,200 scholarship for being the University of Utah Chapter nominee, regardless of the outcome in the national competition. Applications may be printed in PDF format from the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi scheduling and awards page.

The deadline to turn in the application will be March 9, 2017 to 206 Park Building, c/o April Patterson, Student Affairs Vice President's Office.


Scholar of Promise Award - APPLICATION

The University of Utah Chapter of the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi announces the Prize: $1,200 Award to be awarded Fall Semester 2017.  At the time of application, the candidate must be a full-time (12+ credit hours), matriculated undergraduate who has completed 30 credit hours at the University of Utah and must enroll full-time at the University of Utah Fall Semester 2017.

The primary objective of Phi Kappa Phi is the promotion of superior scholarship in all fields of study at the University. The Scholar of Promise award aims to encourage and support students of high academic achievement. The amount of the award is $1,200 which may be used for education-related expenses at the University. Each winner must enroll as a full-time undergraduate student at the University of Utah in Fall Semester 2017 during which the award will be given.

The deadline to turn in the application will be March 9, 2017 to 206 Park Building, c/o April Patterson, Student Affairs Vice President's Office.
