NASPA UNDERGRADUATE FELLOWS PROGRAM Pathway
What is NUFP?
The NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program (NUFP) is a semi-structured mentoring program for traditionally underrepresented students wishing to explore the field of student affairs. The mission of NUFP is to increase the number of historically disenfranchised and underrepresented professionals in student affairs and/or higher education, including but not limited to those of racial and ethnic-minority background; those having a disability; and those identifying as LGBTQ.
What is the U of U NUFP Pathway?
The University of Utah's NUFP Pathway is a student organization within the Division of Student Affairs aimed to provide mentoring and professional development opportunities to underrepresented students in the field of student affairs. Our pathway program is designed to share more about NASPA, ultimately encouraging and preparing these students to apply to NUFP, consider graduate school, and work towards successful careers in student affairs.
U of U NUFP Pathway Elements
On-Campus Mentorship: Fellows will be paired with an experienced student affairs professional who will serve as their mentor and provide them with an insight of the field. Mentors and mentees are expected to meet once a month for a 1 year commitment.
Fellow Meetings: Fellows will meet at least once a month as a cohort to discuss their experiences, examine current events in higher education, and explore career paths in student affairs. We invite professionals from across campus to come and talk to our fellows.
Professional Development: Fellows will learn more about NASPA & NUFP, gain professional skills such as networking, interviewing, & submitting application materials, and connect with faculty & staff in the field.
NASPA Conferences: Fellows will have the opportunity to attend the NASPA Undergraduate Student Conference and the NASPA Annual conference. These conferences have specific programming for undergraduate students, include educational sessions led by student affairs professionals, and serve as an opportunity for students to connect with other fellows.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission to the U of U NUFP Pathway, each student must meet the following requirements.

Identify as a member of a traditionally underrepresented or historically disenfranchised student population, including, but not limited to Black/African American, Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander/Desi American, Hispanic/Latinx/a/o, Indigenous (Native American, Alaskan, Hawaiian), Multiethnic, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, or as having a disability.

Have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application. If your GPA falls below the minimum requirement, you are still encouraged to apply to be considered for our program. Applicants with a 2.7 cumulative GPA will receive preference in the review process.

Have at least two more semesters of undergraduate education left at time of application.
